Dispute Resolution

Civil Suits, Constitutional Petitions / Judicial Review, Appeals and Review, Specialized Tribunal Actions, Oppositions and Rectifications, Arbitration and Mediation, Legal Notices and Cease & Desist Letters.

We help clients resolve legal conflicts through negotiation, civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration and mediation. We audit a client's legal standing early, advise whether it is smarter to settle or to fight, and then run the chosen path with discipline.

What we do

01

Civil Suits

Civil actions are governed by the Code of Civil Procedure 1908 and the Specific Relief Act 1877. We handle private disputes between individuals, businesses and government entities: friction in supply, distribution and vendor agreements, disagreements between partners over profit-sharing, direction or ownership, payment claims and unpaid invoices, and reputational harm caused by false public statements.

  • Recovery Suits for debts, money or moveable property, including Summary Suits under Order XXXVII CPC for expedited recovery on cheques and promissory notes.
  • Declaratory Suits under section 42 of the Specific Relief Act to establish legal title, right or status.
  • Suits for Specific Performance to compel a party to fulfil its contractual obligations where damages are insufficient.
  • Injunction Suits to restrain or compel conduct and prevent irreparable harm.
  • Damages and Tort Actions for loss or injury caused by wrongful acts, negligence or nuisance, including professional malpractice claims.
02

Constitutional Actions (Writs)

Filed directly in the High Courts under Article 199 of the Constitution of Pakistan, or in the superior courts by way of public interest litigation.

  • Habeas Corpus: securing the release of a person unlawfully detained by authorities or private parties, including under section 491 of the Criminal Procedure Code where a child is removed from lawful custody.
  • Mandamus: compelling a public official, statutory body or government institution to perform a legal duty.
  • Prohibition: stopping a lower court or tribunal from exceeding its lawful jurisdiction.
  • Certiorari: quashing an unlawful order of a lower court, tribunal or public authority.
  • Quo Warranto: challenging the authority of a person holding public office.
03

Specialised Family & Statutory Actions

Quick adjudication before dedicated courts established under special statutes, operating outside standard civil court timelines.

  • Family Court Actions under the Family Courts Act 1964: dissolution of marriage (khula), dower, maintenance, custody and guardianship.
  • Banking Suits under the Financial Institutions (Recovery of Finances) Ordinance 2001.
  • Labour and Service Actions before Labour Courts and Service Tribunals: wrongful termination, wage compliance and civil servant grievances.
  • Intellectual Property Actions before the IP Tribunals on patent, trademark and copyright infringement.
  • Rent and Eviction Actions before the Rent Controller under provincial rent laws.
  • Consumer Disputes: defending or pursuing claims over faulty products, deceptive services and consumer rights violations.
04

Arbitration & Mediation

We help clients choose the right path, whether confidential arbitration with a binding ruling or voluntary mediation towards a mutual agreement, and then see it through.

  • Drafting arbitration and mediation clauses that anticipate the practical issues parties to a particular type of agreement encounter in a dispute.
  • Issuing notices under the arbitration law and the contract, dealing with arbitrators and umpires, preparing and filing cases, leading evidence, conducting cross-examination and making submissions.
  • Filing arbitration awards in court for enforcement, and objecting to awards given against clients.
  • Acting as arbitrators, either sole or as part of a panel.
  • Conducting mediation and guiding clients on mediation proceedings and their interests.
  • Drafting settlement templates, managing tight response timelines and ensuring compliance with pre-trial statutory notices.
